first word

ok. so aiden's been doing the babble bit for a while: mamamama, dadadadada, nai-nai nai-nai. i've been working on diaper with him while on the changing table. i believe last week he had 'dia' down... this past saturday (02.04.06) he repeated 'dia-pa' and then on sunday morning (02.05.06) repeated 'dia-per'
and again today (tuesday 02.07.06) said 'dia-per' after hearing me say it. pretty cool

walk half-way around the block

today was aiden's first half walk around the block. i got home from my desk job around 5pm and saw a and p coming out the front door. after getting the mail, aiden was walking down the sidewalk pushing the jogger. apparently he's been walking around the house pushing everything in site in front of him. so p thought it'd be a good idea to have aiden push the jogger around to the garage. so, i decided to join them. after getting the jogger in the garage, aiden quickly turned around and started west down the alley way. he knew that going up the slope to the garage meant going back inside, which he wasn't thrilled about. so we started west down the alley toward the street and a loader and a worker shoveling the opposing alley. once we got to the street, we took a left and headed to 29th ave. once at 29th ave, aiden was determined to head west, but we were calling him and trying to steer him to the east. about twenty (aiden) steps east, he found the stairs that lead to one of the 'row' homes and worked on his stair climbing abilities. These stairs were short enough where he could lift his foot and walk up them, rather than get down on all fours and climb the house stairs. after about three or four repeats of this, we decided it was a bit chilly and picked him up and carried the rest of the way around the block.
