self feeding

on thursday night (01.12.06), aiden gave the shocker of the week. i sat him down in his booster seat and placed a couple of morsels of food on his tray. next thing i new, aiden had picked up a cube of cheese and placed it in his mouth. for the next 10-15 minutes, aiden fed himself cheese cubes and tempeh. pretty cool... must have learned it from playing with carson.

one year. already?

aiden's one year birthday is fast approaching. i can't believe it. it only seemed like yesterday i was flat on my back with back spasms and serious pain that standing, let alone getting up to stand, was excrutiatingly painful. but it is true, 01.18.05, is only eleven days away. what a difference a year makes. aiden is now walking around the house. most of the time with both arms in the air; and when he makes it to a chair, the ottoman or the couch, he throws his hands down as if to say 'I'm HERE!' it's quite cute. he still crawls, and i do believe he can crawl faster than he walks, so if we are playing chase, he will often times get down on his hands and knees and crawl away.

he is also talking more these days. his vocab is only mama, dada, nana... but i think he is on the verge of saying 'nai-nai' and maybe even getting his p's down... i could have sworn he was trying to say diaper today as i was changing him. i bent over and said 'diaper' and thought he was repeating the word. probably not, but i can hope.

so. for his first birthday, grandma and grandpa kuo are coming to town for a week. it will be a great time for aiden to reconnect with his grandparents. this will be the fourth him he seems them.

i've gotten myself a little present for him, but really for me. we have a jogger that transforms into a bike trailer... p and i bought the bike attachment yesterday and today i set it up on my basso and took aiden (sporting his new helmet) on a spin through the alley and around the block. not sure if he enjoyed it, i think he was just tolerating the ride wondering when he'd get lunch served to him. but... with the coming of his first birthday, more mobility for the family and many more firsts to be had.
